DESCRIPTION OF THE INITIATIVE

  • A team of young people visited discos and bars to: raise awareness of the dangers of drink-driving; promote the designated driver concept; distribute leaflets with information and tips to avoid drinking and driving and reward those willing to be the designated driver with a small gift.
  • Police distributed the Bulisőfor leaflet during controls and a Bulisőfor representative signed the Hungarian Road Safety Charter.
  • It ran as a three year public awareness campaign it officially ended December 2008. Due to demand for the campaign, it is now promoted during "Drink Unit" events.

  • Since 2010, promotions take place during Summer Festivals (10-14 festivals/year) and at the December "City Light" campaign in the Governmental District.  Festival goers are invited to reply to questions related to alcohol (information from the "Drink Unit" website) and when driving is not allowed.  T-shirts are awarded to those who answer all questions correctly.  In addition, leaflets containing the information needed to reply to the questionnaire are handed out at the events.
